True Blood's Chris Bauer and Aimee Carrero to Lead Atlantic Theater’s What Rhymes With America

Chris Bauer will star in the Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere of Melissa James Gibson's What Rhymes with America. Directed by Daniel Aukin, the play will co-star Aimee Carrero, Tony nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Seana Kofoed. What Rhymes with America will run at Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater November 19 through December 30, with opening set for December 12.

In What Rhymes with America, a father (Bauer) and his teenage daughter (Carrero) stand on either side of a closed door. Life is unraveling for him, and is entirely uncertain for her. So begins the new play about estrangement and the partially examined life.

What Rhymes with America will feature set design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Matt Frey and original music and sound design by Ryan Rumery.

Bauer plays Detective Andy Bellefleur on HBO drama True Blood, and also played Frank Sobotka on the acclaimed series The Wire. An Atlantic ensemble member, he appeared on stage in The Night Heron, Parlour Song, Mojo and Broadway’s A Streetcar Named Desire. The production marks the off-Broadway debut for Careero who appeared on TV's Level Up and Hannah Montana. Randolph earned a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in Ghost. Kofoed has appeared on Broadway in Proof and Night Must Fail.
